    Core Purpose:

    The Assistant Head of Primary will support theHead of Primary in providing professional leadership for the schoolthat secures its success and improvement ensuring high qualityeducation for all its pupils and improved standards of learning andachievement by fulfilling the school mission and visionstatements.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Undertake theprofessional duties of the Head of Primary in the event of his/herabsence.
    • Performance and management ofteachers and teaching assistants
    • Overview ofCurriculum Monitoring & Evaluation
    • Assessment
    • Timetabling and coverarrangements
    • Reports
    • The supervision of SEN and EAL throughout the school

    Teaching and learning

    • Carry out teaching duties in accordance with the schoolsneeds and schemes of work
    • Liaise withcolleagues to deliver units of work in a collaborativemanner
    • Set targets for student attainmentlevels
    • Demonstrate exemplary classroompractice
    • Extending ones own knowledgeunderstanding and skills by keeping up to date with appropriateliterature and initiatives and through inserviceeducation
    • Contributing to the review ofappropriate policies and procedures
    • Followingstandard Whole School agreed procedures
    • Monitoring the condition and safe use of classroom equipment andfacilities in line with good Health and Safety practice
    • Working with parents to enable them to understand theteaching programme pupil assessment and how to help their childrenprogress
    • Contributing to the review selectionor writing of Curriculum Documents and Schemes of Work adopted bythe School
    • Liaising with colleagues to ensurecontinuity progression and the development of cross curricularlinks
    • Review the schools curriculum and toprovide a curriculum appropriate to the schools needs
    • Be an active participant in the schools PerformanceReview process
    • Contribute to the pastoral andextracurricular life of the School
    • A leadrole in CPD provision with proposals to HoP
    • To input into the school SIP as required
    • LeadCPD sessions as appropriate and in keeping with the SIP
    • To be responsible for the provision of SEN and EALthroughout the primary school

    Standards and Quality Assurance

    • Support the aims and ethos of the school
    • Seta good example in terms of dress punctuality andattendance
    • Attend and participate in openevenings and student performances
    • Uphold theschools behaviour code and uniform regulations
    • Participate in staff training
    • Attend team and staff meetings
    • Throughobservation and appraisal assist staff in meeting professionaltargets
    • Providing encouragement and advice toall colleagues
    • Representing the School whenrequired to do so

    Health andSafety

    • Emphasizes the importance ofsafety in all areas of the curriculum communicating to the pupilsthe importance of a responsible attitude towards personal safetythe safety of others and respect for Aspen Heights British Schoolsproperty and equipment
    • Perform playgroundduties on time and with due diligence to safeguard Aspenstudents
    • Take allnecessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipmentmaterials and facilities
    • Assist inimplementing all policies and rules governing student life andconduct
    • Ensure that all the necessary healthand safety rules and procedures are being followed
    • Maintain an awareness of all the health and safetymeasures to be taken when in school

    Minimum EducationalQualifications Required for the Role

    Bachelors Degree in relevant discipline

    Teacher certification


    MinimumYears of Experience Required

    5 years teaching experience

    Experience as an overseas educator in a preferably inclusiveinternational setting

    Well versed and currentin a British curriculum

    Senior leadershipexperience in an ENC primary school

    Meetprofessional teacher education requirements of school

    Must hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records BureauDisclosure or equivalent for countries lived in outside of theUK

    Child Care and Protection training
