    Description

    We are looking for an experienced head cookto take charge of kitchen operations including leading the staff inall matters related to food preparation. You will be required toensure that there are adequate food supplies to plan the menu andto see that the kitchen and equipment are kept immaculate at alltimes.

    To be successful as a head cook you shouldhave the creativity to develop new recipes and the leadershipskills to ensure that your team understands what is required ofthem. An excellent head cook should be able to handle multipleduties simultaneously and should be extremelyorganized.

    • Interviewing hiring andtraining cooks and other kitchenstaff.
    • Planning and supervising tasks carriedout by the food preparation staff.
    • Takingresponsibility for the health and safety of the foodteam.
    • Planning food menus and ensuring that themenu is fresh and well presented.
    • Keepingabreast of culinary trends and incorporating these into themenu.
    • Developing recipes and determining howbest to present dishes.
    • Ordering food andsupplies such as kitchen equipment and keeping an updatedinventory.
    • Dealing with suppliers and checkingthat the correct equipment has been delivered at the quotedprices.
    • Checking regularly that the equipmentand work areas are kept spotless.
    • Keepingabreast of and complying with the latest health and safety laws andregulations.
    • A high school diploma orequivalent.
    • Training at a community collegetechnical school culinary arts school or 4yearcollege.
    • At least 2 years experience working asa head cook.
    • Knowledge of culinarytrends.
    • A proven ability to create unique anddelicious dishes.
    • The ability to multitask andcope in a highpressure environment.
    • Excellentleadership and communicationskills.
