    Job Description

    As a Patient Service Assistant, your role will focus on providing vital support and assistance to patients and their families during their hospital stay.

    You will be responsible for reception duties, maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for patients.

    Strong organizational skills, empathy, and attention to detail are key traits for this role.
    Responsibilities


    • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Handle incoming telephone calls and direct them to the appropriate departments or personnel.
    • Collect and verify patient information, including personal details, medical history, and insurance coverage.
    • Schedule appointments for patients, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimal waiting times.
    • Maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Assist in the admission and discharge process, including completing necessary paperwork and coordinating transportation if required.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure patient needs are met promptly and efficiently.
    • Perform basic administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, and photocopying.
    • Provide general information to patients and their families regarding hospital services, policies, and procedures.
    • Ensure the cleanliness and comfort of patient areas, including changing bed linens, restocking supplies, and maintaining a hygienic environment.
    Requirements


    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is an asset.
    • Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic medical record systems.
    • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with others.
    • Compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
    • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
    • Flexibility in working various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
