    Description

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as the Parkland Healthexecutive medical expert in Clinical and Health Systems Research. Aspecific area of interest is research that addresses the social,economic, and environmental factors that contribute to healthdisparities and working in implementing programs that promoteHealth Equity. Presents findings in internal and externalpublications and presentations. Provides expertise to local andnational advisory panels.
    • Advances a Clinicaland Health Systems research strategy- including capacity buildingwith UT Southwestern and Parkland Health professional staff.Leverages clinical and health system opportunities to attractfunding related to research on health care delivery and outcomes inunderserved populations.
    • Implements, monitorsgoals and objectives to support Parkland Health's strategicClinical Research initiatives in collaboration with nursing andadministrative leadership.
    • Collaborates with UTSouthwestern Medical School and with other external highereducation organizations such as schools of public health anduniversities to develop collaborative research relationships tojointly develop researchinitiatives.
    • Influences and motivatesphysicians, clinicians, and other professionals to participate inresearch initiatives.
    • Develops and supportsstrategies to increase research enrollment of Parkland patientpopulation and community involvement in researchinitiatives.
    • Serves and participates ondivision/hospital wide committees, quality improvement and patientsafety activities to ensure discipline representation/participationof area(s) of responsibility. Promotes and supportsinterdepartmental collaboration and integration, as well aspositive working relationships.
    • Collaborateswith Population Health to understand the characteristics of theParkland Health population, distribution, utilization of healthservices and Community Health NeedsAssessment.
    • Identifies opportunities and servesas co-investigator or principal investigator on funded researchwhich aligns with Parkland strategicpriorities.
    • Collaborates to develop andfacilitate a research mentorship program.
    • Leadsand participates in clinical and epidemiologic research that alignswith Parkland's mission.
    • Contributes toand/or establishes operational, functional, and/or business plansthat have short to long term impact on department and/or functionalresults.
    • Responsible for coaching, leading andmentoring emerging talent and developing the talentpipeline.

    JobAccountabilities

    • Identifies ways to improve workprocesses and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendationsto supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate insupport of the overall goals of the department andParkland.
    • Stays abreast of the latestdevelopments, advancements, and trends in the field by attendingseminars/workshops, reading professional journals, activelyparticipating in professional organizations, and/or maintainingcertification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained intocurrent work practices.
    • Maintains knowledge ofapplicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines thatimpact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed topromote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agencyrequirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeksadvice and guidance as needed to ensure properunderstanding.
