- To assume responsibility for allactivities in the hotel in the absence of executivemanagement.
- To be fully aware of all activitywithin the hotel on a day to day basis.
- Tomonitor the operation of all departments to ensure all operatingstandards are maintained.
- To ensure that allpublic and back of house areas are maintained to the specifiedlevels of cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation and toinstigate appropriate action if this is notachieved.
- To assist in maintaining a high levelof security for both guest and hotelproperty.
- To be fully conversant with allemergency procedures and pertinent locallegislation.
- To ensure all workstations arestaffed correctly.
- To meet, greet, escort andbid farewell to all VIP guests and endeavour to meet as many returnguests on arrival and escort them to theirroom.
- To effectively and efficiently handle andresolve all guests' complaints and problems in all areas ofthe hotel.
- To pass on the comments, suggestionsand recommendations of guests to department heads and the executivecommittee.
- To ensure an accurate log is kept ofall incidents of note occurring.
- To be fullyconversant with the hotel credit policies and to monitor all guestsaccounts in the absence of the creditmanager.
- To operationally assist alldepartments as may be required.
- To ensureactive and effective communication between all departments duringthe night and between the night shift staff and the daystaff.
- To carry out performance appraisals forall night front office staff.
- To ensure regularinspections of all hotel areas are done at least once everyevening.
- To be fully trained in assistant dutymanager duties and fully understand the hotel policies andprocedures specially licensing laws.
- Keep up todate with hotel emergency procedures.
- Be awareof hotels outside contractors' specifications i.e. pestcontrol, carpet maintenance or windowcleaning.
- To organise on a quarterly basis the"early bird" meeting for all night staff andexecutive management
- To ensure that the dailysheet is prepared with all relevant and correct information, readyfor the first morning shift.
