    AboutCompany: Our client is afast-growing grocery retail chain startup with strong financialresources that is going to change the retail market inNigeria.

    The Companyis currently seeking to hire a Category Manager to work alongsidethe Chief Purchasing Officer, this role will be responsible fordelivering best in class category leadership for the Company sretail consumergoods.

    Using acombination of category, customer, shopper and consumer insight,the Category Manager being the expert of the category performancewill use his/her expertise to deliver objective recommendations tothe customer segment, and to the Chief Purchasing Officer byshaping the Company s strategy and approach with consumergoods.

    Keydeliverables of the role are to lead category initiatives with thecustomer, improve the Perfect Store compliance, land distributionand execution of the Company s innovation and to work with theChief Purchasing Officer to co-create a longer-term category visionwithcustomers.

    JobObjectives:

    Develop his orher categories so that all SKU`s have strong volume and excellentquality.

    Inorder to do so he or she does everything possible to become anexpert of his or her categories with excellent knowledge of thelocal as well as internationalmarkets.

    Develop as manyPrivate Labels aspossible.

    Ensure lowestcost and best terms and conditions for thecompany.

    Heworks with all departments in collaboration in each subject, inorder to get the best results for thecompany.

    KeyResponsibilities

    Deliver best inclass Category Management by taking an objective total categoryperspective when providing market, consumer and shopper insights tothecustomer.

    Responsible forof the Range review process from inception through toimplementation and delivery of post reviewanalysis.

    Delivery of animproved Perfect Store compliance through the creation ofcategory-focused selling stories and proactive management ofrange.

    Execution of theCompany s innovations, through the creation of category focusedselling stories, identifying listing opportunities/challenges andproviding merchandising solutions to maximize on shelfdelivery.

    Delivery of anin- depth category performance understanding to help informinternal customer team decision making andstrategy

    Input into KPIsetting and tracking against these, including Perfect Store, CoreRange compliance anddistribution.

    Strategydevelopment andvision

    Tailor thecategory vision content to the customer and use to develop a 3 yearCategory strategy aligned with theretailer.

    Ensure ourinteractions with the customer leads to a competitive advantagethrough understanding the Company s Vision and Account vision /strategies and ensuring a collaborative category relationship toenable aligned account strategyplans.

    Understand anddeploy vision to the shelf for the account, collaborating withSales to set joint targets using the picture of successmodel.

    Work withobjectivity both with our external customers and internalcustomers.

    Identify andpush forward tailored range and execution opportunities for theaccount.

    Customerrelationships

    Ensure Categorygrowth and objectivity are at heart of all interactions withCustomers.

    Deliver a stepchange in customer engagement at alllevels.

    Delivery ofcustomer relationships, meetings and interaction vs the contactstrategy.

    Develop goodrelationships with internal the Company s Purchasing and Accountteams and ensure internal alignment behind customer categorystrategy.



    Requirements

    First degree inany relevant field of study from a reputable academicinstitution.

    Substantialcategory management experience within the (FMCG, Sales, Production,Food manufacturing) consumergoods.

    Experienceworking for a retail chainorganisation.

    Hands onexperience owning and driving sustainable category growth (atrelative speed) in a fast pacedorganisation.

    Strongcommercial acumen and business/financialunderstanding.

    Experienceworking with a Stage GateProcess/Model.

    Awillingness to roll sleeves up to actively elevate (and teach)category management expertise, process andunderstanding.

    Advancedcommunication and senior stakeholder managementskills;

    Strong EmotionalIntelligence.

    Exceptional timemanagement and project managementskills

    Scrupulousattention todetail.

    Proactive& collaborative problem solvingability

    Demonstratedability to manage cost/budget, scope, schedule andrisk.

    Benefits

    BasePay is N13, 500,000.00 per annum + otherbenefits.



    First degree in any relevant field of study from a reputableacademic institution. Substantial category management experiencewithin the (FMCG, Sales, Production, Food manufacturing) consumergoods. Experience working for a retail chain organisation. Hands onexperience owning and driving sustainable category growth (atrelative speed) in a fast paced organisation. Strong commercialacumen and business/financial understanding. Experience workingwith a Stage Gate Process/Model. A willingness to roll sleeves upto actively elevate (and teach) category management expertise,process and understanding.
