    Overview

    We are currently seeking an experienced building surveyor (preferably chartered) to undertake a wide range of instructions across the building consultancy discipline. You will be responsible for conducting surveys, assessments, and providing expert advice on commercial construction and property-related matters. The role involves direct client engagement and management, with an emphasis on developing relationships and creating your own network within the sector.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform detailed building surveys, inspections, and evaluations of properties, identifying defects, and providing comprehensive reports.
    • Offer expert advice on building design, construction, maintenance, repair, and restoration, considering sustainability and compliance with building regulations.
    • Undertake feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost estimates for proposed construction projects or property renovations.
    • Provide professional guidance and support to clients on property-related matters.
    • Prepare and manage tender documentation, specifications, and contract administration for building projects.
    • Conduct project management duties, overseeing construction works, monitoring progress, and ensuring quality control throughout the lifecycle of the project.
    • Liaise and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to achieve project objectives effectively.
    • Increase the range, quantity and quality of instructions via business generation to ensure development of the service line as a whole.
    • Attend events and actively promote the service line and business amongst clients and professional organisations.
    • Understand the need to work commercially to ensure profitability of instructions.
    • Meet set fee income and instruction targets and contribute to profitability of the service line.
    • Accurately manage own billing and fee income reporting.
    • Maintain and grow existing and new client relationships.
    • Look to develop personal profile within the market.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends, changes in legislation, and advancements in building technology, integrating relevant updates into project strategies.

    Skills And Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Building Surveyor.
    • A full understanding of the components of commercial buildings and ability to describe the constructional elements.
    • Ability to measure buildings in accordance with IPMS.
    • Basic understanding of FIDIC contracts.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
    • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
    • Ability to take initiative and work proactively.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Strong commitment to ethical practices and integrity.
    • Understanding of regional business culture and regulations.
    • Certifications and Licenses: RICS qualified or working towards APC.
    • Software: Microsoft Office programs and Microsoft Project to a proficient level. Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred but not essential.
    • Language skills: Fluency in English, written and verbal.
    • Travel: Flexible attitude towards travelling.
