    Description

    Draftsman

    Prepare detaileddrawings of structural features or drawings and topographicalrelief maps used in civil engineering projects such as highwaysbridges and public works. Use knowledge of building materialsengineering practices and mathematics to completedrawings.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare detailed drawings of structural features of roadinfrastructure or drawings and topographical relief maps used incivil engineering projects such as highways bridges and publicworks. Use knowledge of building materials engineering practicesand mathematics to complete drawings.
    • Producedrawings using computerassisted drafting systems (CAD) or draftingmachines or by hand using compasses dividers protractors trianglesand other drafting devices.
    • Draft plans anddetailed drawings for structures installations and constructionprojects such as highways sewage disposal systems and dikes workingfrom sketches or notes.
    • Coordinate structuralelectrical and mechanical designs and determine a method ofpresentation to graphically represent building plans.
    • Analyze space and site requirements and other technicaldocuments and reports to determine their effect on architecturaldesigns.
    • Draw maps diagrams and profiles usingcrosssections and surveys to represent elevations topographicalcontours subsurface formations and structures.
    • Lay out and plan interior room arrangements forcommercial buildings using computerassisted drafting (CAD)equipment and software.
    • Supervise and trainother technologists technicians and drafters.
    • Determine the order of work and method of presentationsuch as orthographic or isometric drawing.
    • Finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packagesaccording to required mediums and specifications for reproductionusing blueprinting photography or other duplicatingmethods.
    • Draw rough and detailed scale plansfor foundations buildings and structures based on preliminaryconcepts sketches engineering calculations specification sheets andother data.
    • Correlate interpret and modifydata obtained from topographical surveys well logs and geophysicalprospecting reports.
    • Check dimensions ofmaterials to be used and assign numbers to lists ofmaterials.
    • Determine procedures andinstructions to be followed according to design specifications andquantity of required materials.
    • Supervise orconduct field surveys inspections or technical investigations toobtain data required to revise constructiondrawings.

    Explain drawings toproduction or construction teams and provide adjustments asnecessary.

    • Obtain and assemble datato complete architectural designs visiting job sites to compilemeasurements as necessary.

    Determinequality cost strength and quantity of required materials and enterfigures on materials lists.

    • Locateand identify symbols on topographical surveys to denote geologicaland geophysical formations or oil field installations.
    • Create freehand drawings and lettering to accompanydrawings.
    • Calculate excavation tonnage andprepare graphs and fillhauling diagrams for use in earthmovingoperations.
    • Prepare colored drawings oflandscape and interior designs for presentation toclient.
    • Calculate weights volumes and stressfactors and their implications for technical aspects ofdesigns.
    • Plot characteristics of boreholes foroil and gas wells from photographic subsurface survey recordingsand other data representing depth degree and direction ofinclination.
    • Reproduce drawings on copymachines or trace copies of plans and drawings using transparentpaper or cloth ink pencil and standard draftinginstruments.
    • Calculate heat loss and gain ofbuildings and structures to determine required equipmentspecifications following standard procedures.
    • Prepare cost estimates contracts bidding documents andtechnical reports for specific projects under an architects orengineers supervision.
    • Represent architect orengineer on construction site ensuring builder compliance withdesign specifications and advising on design corrections undersupervision.
    • Review rough sketches drawingsspecifications and other engineering data to ensure that theyconform to designconcepts.

    Requirements:

    Intermediate Civil 3D knowledge

    Relative BsCdegree

    Knowledge of materials methods and thetools involved in the construction or repair of structures such ashighways and roads earthworks.

    Great knowledgeof design techniques tools and principles involved in production ofprecision technical plans blueprints shop drawings andmodels.

    3 5 years experience as a draftsman inroad and infrastructure construction.

    Activelearner and great problemsolving abilities
