    Position: Staff Nurse -OphthalmologyClinic

    PositionDescription:

    A registeredprofessional Clinic Staff Nurse who provides direct patient careand coordinates patient care-related activities using thescientific process of nursing. Nursing care given to Pediatric,adolescent, adult and geriatricpopulation

    PositionResponsibility:


    •Demonstratesability to prioritize tasks ensuring effective functioning of thearea.


    •Follows the chain of command inreporting incidents orconcerns.


    •Prioritizes workload andcompletes correspondence in a timelymanner.


    •Ensures safe workingenvironment through strict compliance with Hospital Policy andProcedure regarding safety, infection andsecurity.


    •Demonstrates skills inassessment of patient, family's physical and psychologicalneeds.


    •Demonstrates skill incoordination and planning of care and prioritize care based onindividual needs.


    •Demonstratesknowledge of and ability to render care and services based on age,appropriateness and developmental needs ofpatients.


    •Performs nursinginterventions / procedures in accordance with established standardsof care and policy andprocedures.


    •Identifies and responds tourgent/emergency situations appropriately and directs team membersin a calm, proficient manner.


    •ProvideNursing Care to patient prior and postprocedure.


    •Book patient forappointment, procedure, or treatment according to treatmentplan.


    •Follow up on patient'sdiagnostic tests and coordinate with physician for informingpatients about their results, treatment, or if a follow up isneeded with physician.


    •Maintainsaccurate and thorough documentation as per Hospital Policies andProcedures.


    •Maintains competency in useof department specific equipment necessary for the resuscitation ofthe patient.


    •Maintain knowledge andawareness regarding department / service specific policies,procedures and guidelines.


    •Demonstratesdelivery of safe and appropriate nursing care according tostandards of care.


    •Maintains a safeenvironment for patients, co-workers, visitors and others byfollowing hospital policy in reporting of equipment failures,safety and securityissues.


    •Demonstrates effectivecommunication and good customer service skills when interactingwith the interdisciplinary team, patients, families andothers.


    •Supports the effectivefunctioning of unit routine, i.e., preparation of charts(screening); use of electronic record system, update of patientrecords and preparation in view of dayschedule.


    •Self-updating regardinginternal memos and communication towards changes inclinic.


    •Keep consultation rooms stockedand clean prior and after patient has beenseen.


    •Admits and discharges patientsaccording to establishedstandards.


    •Organizes and preparespatient with an outpatient appointment for MRI/CT underSedation/Analgesia.


    •Administermedication, chemotherapy, infusion, blood products (whateverapplicable) as per Hospital Policies andProcedures.

    PositionQualification:

    3-4 year GeneralNursing Diploma / Degree

    2-3 years of experiencein Ophthalmologyspeciality

    RESPONSIBILITIES
