As thePlanning Lead you will play a pivotal role in managing design andconstruction projects within the region for Stantec. Your primaryresponsibility will be to assist in successfully delivering theseprojects by overseeing various aspects including project controlscost reporting project planning and execution.

You will be instrumental in aligning these constructionprojects with Stantecs overarching vision and objectives. Thisinvolves effective resource allocation compliance with industrystandards and regulations and consistent client satisfaction. Yourexpertise and leadership will be crucial in navigating thecomplexities of construction management ultimately contributing toachieving Stantecs mission and goals.

Roleresponsibilities:

Project Oversight:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive regionalproject controls strategy to ensure consistent monitoring reportingand compliance across all projects.
• Assist in conducting periodic project reviewsto assess progress in alignment with Stantecs and clientrequirements identify potential issues and notify required seniorpersonnel/management upon identification and ensure projectalignment with Stantecs goals and objectives.

Client Interface:

• Contribute to establishing and strengthening regionalclient relationships by understanding their expectations andconcerns relating to project controls.
• Collaborate with different Stantec departmentsto ensure project scope and objectives align with client needs andexpectations.

ScopeDefinition:

• Work closely with andsupport Project Managers Design Managers and Discipline Leaders todefine and refine project scope and objectives.
• Ensure the scope definition iswelldocumented and communicated to all regional projectstakeholders.

ResourceManagement:

• Assist in reviewing andoptimising resource allocation across multiple projects within theregion.
• Assist ProjectManagers Design Managers and Discipline Leaders in monitoringresource utilisation and ensure that resources are assigned toactivities that align with project goals and budgets.
• Assist in identifying resourceshortfall against project delivery plans.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stayup to date with local codes and regulations relevant to theconstruction industry within the region.
• Advise on implementing compliance measuresacross all projects to mitigate regulatory risks.

Quality Assurance:

• Assist in establishing quality control standards andprocedures for Stantec design and construction projects within theregion.
• Assist ProjectManagers and Design Managers and Discipline Leaders in regularlyreviewing project quality assurance processes including inspectionsand testing to ensure standardisation within Stantec and thatprojects meet defined quality standards.

Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination:

• Collaborate with regional suppliers andsubcontractors to align their work with project objectives andquality standards.
• Monitor their performance and address any discrepanciesor issues promptly.

Documentation:

• Ensure thatstandardised project documentation processes are consistentlyfollowed across the region.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining a centralisedStantec repository for policies procedures and documentationensuring compliance with company standards and regulatoryrequirements.
• Collaborate with project document controllers in managingaccessibility version control and providing training to promoteaccountability and transparency across all projects.

Budget Tracking:

• Assist in implementing a robust budget tracking systemfor all regional projects.
• Assist in regularly analysing project expense planningcost overruns and providing financial reports to Stantecstakeholders.

Safety:

• Assist in championing a regional safetyculture emphasising the importance of adhering to safetyprotocols.
• Attend andcontribute to regular safety audits and reviews with DirectorsProject Managers and Discipline Leaders on Stantecprojects.

ProblemSolving:

• Be at the forefront of problemsolving anddedicated to addressing challenges that may arise during projectdesign and execution stages.
• Develop and implement strategies for timely issueresolution and risk mitigation.

Team Management:

• Provideguidance and mentorship to project control teams within theregion.
• Fostercollaboration among team members and encourage sharing of bestpractices and lessons learned.

General Skills and Requirements:

• Ensure that project control teams within the regionpossess the necessary technical knowledge in constructionengineering and architecture.
• Assist in promoting a culture of strategic thinkingencouraging teams to align projects with regionalobjectives.
• Assist inimplementing efficient time management practices to meet regionalproject deadlines and milestones.
• Facilitate strong interpersonal and communication skillswithin the regional team to ensure effective interaction andcoordination of project delivery design teams andstakeholders.
• Assist inconflict and crisis management to address regional challenges asthey arise.
• Ensureteams are wellversed in contract and subcontract documentsmaintaining legal and financial compliance across Stantecprojects.
• A high levelof competence in MS Project Primavera P6 are required withadditional software experience such as Asta Autodesk Bim 360 andBlue Beam is an advantage.

Tasksspecific skills and knowledge:

BaselineEstablishment: Work closely with Project Managers Design ManagersDiscipline Leaders and control teams to establish comprehensiveproject baselines for all regional projects. Ensure that thesebaselines include detailed information on scope costs program risksopportunities and contingencies.

ChangeManagement: Oversee change management processes for projects withinthe region. Review change requests assess their impact on projectcontrols and make decisions based on key performance indicators(KPIs) to ensure changes align with project goals andobjectives.

Resource Planning: Develop andmanage a resource planning framework for the region ensuring thatresources are efficiently allocated to projects. Establish specificKPIs for resource allocation and monitor resource usage againstregional program and budget goals.

DataDrivenApproach: Implement a datadriven approach to resource spendinganalysing regional resource allocation metrics to optimise resourceusage and reallocate resources when necessary.

Performance Reviews: Collaborate with Project ManagersDesign Managers and Discipline Leaders to support the commercialteam to ensure a thorough understanding of performance andalignment with the regional project baseline. Utilise establishedperformance metrics to assess progress consistently.

Technical Discussions: Lead and participate in technicaldiscussions regarding risk management and solution efficiencywithin the region. Provide technical expertise to assess theefficiency of solutions and ensure a common understanding ofpotential impacts in various scenarios.

Prioritisation: Set priorities for regional reportingfocusing on critical issues and tasks outside regular monthly orweekly cycles. Define specific weekly priorities and measureprogress for effective regional project control.

Information Review: Act as the primary reviewer of allproject control information leaving the region.
