    Description

    Your KeyResponsibilities:

    • Safety as the culture and thepriority, drive Operational Excellence and asset availability/optimization across the region via proactive plant maintenance andplanning.
    • Provide visible personal safety andenvironmental leadership. Take an active role in the implementationof safety, health and environmental programs, policies andprocedures.
    • Measure performance through auditand tracking KPI's. Provide leadership for the Root CauseAnalysis and CAPA plans. Ensure effective corrective actions areidentified and follow through that they are addressed at alllocations within the Area.
    • Ensure a consistentand integrated approach to the operation and maintenance offacilities within the region through effective planning, excellentcommunication and sharing of information andprocesses.
    • Support growth in the region viacollaboration with the commercial teams and Sales and OperationsPlanning (S&OP).
    • Deliver P&Ltargets as defined by budget and growth plans via detailed plansaround waste mix, routing, and execution toproforma.
    • Drive facility production andequipment availability; addressing potential operatingdeficiencies; and coordinate both corporate and field support todevelop and implement effective operatingplans.
    • Coach WTE and MPF leaders on safety andP&L management and in executing on planned and unplannedevents driving collaboration with the regional maintenance leaderand regional engineering leader.
    • Regularlyassess talent and identify succession across facilities ensuringbench strength. Take an active role in developing Midwest talentand preparing them for Operations Leadershiproles.
    • Encourage and lead by example, throughactive community involvement that demonstrates Covanta'svalue proposition in our communities andmarketplace.
    • Coordinate and oversee corporatesupport to ensure successful integration, promoting effectivebudget management and organic growthinitiatives.
    • Drive change management foroperations initiatives developed as part of the transformation planincluding but not limited to adaptation of new tools, processes,programs.
    • Ensure accurate and standardreporting using key performance indicators (e.g., production,operating statistics, labor costs and other operating expenses).Ensure prompt attention to and resolution of issues whenrequired.
    • Support assessments of assetperformance, analyze and document deviations to ensure lessons arecaptured and used to keep our policies and programs current andreflective of actual field performance.
    • Serveas champion for Lean Management processes. Be a change leader forthe entire operations organization.
    • Identifyprocess improvements to business needs using Problem SolvingReports (PSRs) and external benchmarks. Create countermeasures toresolve root causes of problems andinconsistencies.
    • Partner with engineering andPMO to conduct capital expenditure planning, global engineeringstandards, budgeting, forecasting, and facility masterplanning.
    • Lead consistent and thoroughcompliance with requirements of the Covanta Technical StandardsProgram, coordinate support to assist facilities withimplementation, oversight and variance procedures, implement bestoutage practices, including implementation of outage managementteam to provide assessment, procurement, and execution oversightwith the goal of establishing consistent practices and effectivecost control.

    CANDIDATEPROFILE:

    This individual musthave 10+ years of progressive experience in operations managementwith at least 5 years' supervisory experience in aleadership role, as well as experience leading multiple operationalsites (O&M) execution. This person will have a track recordof safety leadership and P&L management, utilizing peopleeffectively and managing tightly against performance commitmentsand be committed to developing a high-performanceculture.

    Previous experience with buildinghigh performance teams, leading large/complex operations deliveringservices and outstanding customer satisfaction is a requirement.The technical scope covers "end to end" plantoperations and maintenance as it relates to the handling of allincoming waste types (MSW, Profile, RMW, etc.), materialprocessing, Waste and raw water treatment, boiler operations,turbine generator operations, metals (ferrous/non-ferrous), ash andall auxiliary systems.

    Specifically, thesuccessful candidate will have:

    • Bachelor's degree inengineering, business, or related field; advanced degree ispreferred.
    • Lean Certification isdesirable.
    • Solid business acumen with anunderstanding of the financial implications on the P&L, newprocess technology development, scale up, and process improvement.Large operations experience required.
    • Abilityto drive a culture of dedication to process safety, worker safetyand environmental stewardship.
    • Understanding ofpower market dynamics and strategies, plant operation and theintersection of these areas ispreferred
    • Successful experience interactingwith Federal, State and local regulators, legislators, permittingagencies and other community organizations ispreferred
